The ship's company of HMAS Anzac commemorated Anzac Day in Singapore during the first overseas port visit of their regional presence deployment.
Anzac personnel commemorated the day by participating in a sombre ceremony at the Kranji War Cemetery and Memorial alongside personnel from the Australian and New Zealand High Commissions Singapore, Singapore Armed Forces and other senior military officials.
For Leading Seaman Communication Information Systems Kylie Regenfelder, there were many things to think about on Anzac Day.
"Being on Anzac for Anzac Day is really special," she said.
"It's a huge honour and privilege to be on the ship that bears the namesake of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps."
Leading Seaman Regenfelder said her thoughts were also with her support network back home in Australia.
"To my family back home, I thank them for always loving and supporting me and being happy with my choices including time away deployed with Navy," she said.
For Leading Seaman Combat Systems Operator Callum Wann, a family history of military service added to the importance of his Anzac Day experience in Singapore.
"My dad was in the armed forces and the day is all about mourning, appreciating and remembering the people who laid down their lives so me, my family and future generations can have the life we do in Australia," he said.
"Although we were deployed away from our home port in Western Australia it was great to join some of our regional partners in commemorating Anzac Day," Leading Seaman Wann said.
Anzac will continue to conduct port visits as well as maritime exercises and engagement activities throughout the regional presence deployment.
