Department of Defence

HMAS Hobart has arrived at the Port of Benoa, Bali, for Indonesia's two most important maritime events for 2025.

The International Fleet Review will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Indonesian Navy, while Exercise Komodo 2025 will bring together 15 nations for multilateral maritime training.

Chief of Navy Vice Admiral Mark Hammond AO, RAN said the broad global support for these events is testament to Indonesia's growing maritime standing.

"I congratulate the Indonesian Navy on its 80th anniversary, and well-earned reputation as one of the most professional and capable maritime forces in the Indo-Pacific region." Vice Admiral Hammond said.

"As neighbours in the maritime domain, it is essential Australia and Indonesia continue to build cooperation and strengthen our shared security interests."

Exercise Komodo 25 will be conducted from February 16 to 22 and will include ships from 15 nations.

Chief of Joint Operations, Vice Admiral Justin Jones AO CSC, RAN said it is the fifth time Australia has supported Exercise Komodo.

"Our participation in Exercise Komodo, along with other bilateral and multilateral exercises with Indonesia, demonstrates our shared commitment to an open, inclusive, and resilient Indo-Pacific region.

"Exercise Komodo 25 will include a collaborative maritime search and rescue scenario, ensuring we can work together in response to contingencies within our region.

"The ship's company for HMAS Hobart is proud to join Indonesia's largest Fleet Review and Exercise Komodo, and we look forward to these events being outstanding successes."

HMAS Hobart is undertaking Exercise Komodo 25 as part of the Australian Defence Force's first Regional Presence Deployment for 2025, which will conclude in late February.

Indo-Pacific Regional Presence Deployments demonstrate Australia's commitment and ability to maintain a near continuous presence in the region to support regional security and stability.
