Holbrook: Two Charged Over Seized $190K Cash

Two men have been charged after police seized almost $190,000 cash during a vehicle stop in the state's south at the weekend.

About 11.55pm last Thursday (23 March 2023), officers attached to Albury Highway Patrol stopped a white Toyota Hiace van on the Hume Highway, Holbrook, due to its alleged manner of driving.

After speaking with the driver – a 22-year-old man – police searched the van, and allegedly located more than $189,000 in a shopping bag behind the driver's seat.

Both men were arrested and taken to Albury Police Station where they were each charged with one count of recklessly deal proceeds of general crime $100000 or more.

Both appeared in Albury Local Court on Friday (24 March 2023), where they were formally refused bail to appear before the same court today (Monday 27 March 2023). The younger man has since been granted conditional bail to appear in the same court on Wednesday 12 April 2023.
