Minister for Health, Guy Barnett, toured the W.P. Holman Clinic in Launceston ahead of Daffodil Day on August 31.
Each week, thousands of Tasmanians receive care and treatment for cancer, and Minister Barnett said it was a privilege to hear about the incredible work of clinic staff to support Tasmanians undergoing cancer treatment.
"The Rockliff Liberal Government is supporting Tasmanians to access the best possible treatment and care, closer to where they live so they are surrounded by their families and loved ones," Minister Barnett said.
"That's what makes the work of the W.P. Holman Clinic and the Northern Cancer Service so important."
The Northern Cancer Service covers two of the three health regions within Tasmania - Mersey-Lyell and Northern Tasmania - delivering cancer services to about 48 per cent of the State's population.
The W.P. Holman Clinic provides an integrated cancer service to the North of the state including Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology and Clinical Haematology.
The services provided at the clinic help improve outcomes for cancer patients throughout the North.
Minister Barnett said next Thursday is Daffodil Day, which is a very important and iconic annual event that supports Cancer Council Tasmania.
"Daffodil Day raises awareness and funds for lifesaving cancer research," Minister Barnett said.
"Importantly, every dollar raised helps fund lifesaving research, cancer prevention, and supports people affected by cancer.
The Rockliff Liberal Government is delivering on what matters to Tasmanians.
