Home Harvest is back with opportunities to celebrate and share home-grown produce and local food year round.
The 2022 program kicked off with a twilight picnic at Edendale Community Environment Farm on Friday and will continue throughout the year with a range of activities.
A highlight of the calendar is our first Community Gardens Open Day on Saturday 19 March.
The day provides opportunities to connect, grow, eat and enjoy with community gardeners across Nillumbik.
You can download our Community Gardens map(PDF, 331KB) and take a self-guided tour of Nillumbik's gardens in Eltham, Diamond Creek, Greensborough, Hurstbridge, Panton Hill and St Andrews.
A number of our Community Gardens will be holding activities on the day.
- 9-11am: chat to volunteers and plant seedlings at Panton Hill Community Garden
- 10-11am: food swap at Diamond Valley Library, Greensborough
- 10-11.30am: self-guided tour at Eltham Living and Learning
- 10am-12pm: pest and disease workshop at Edible Hub, Hurstbridge
- 10am-2pm: food swap and garden tour at Thrive, Diamond Creek
- 1pm: seed saving workshop at Diamond Valley Library, Greensborough
Throughout the year, a variety of Home Harvest workshops will help you start your gardening journey, improve your existing garden, share skills, tips and tricks, meet new people and grow fresh food to share.
We have workshops coming up on vegetable seed saving, growing food for children, smart gardening for seniors, food forest gardening, working with water and more.
Whether you're starting your first vegetable patch or you're a seasoned gardener, Home Harvest offers something for everyone.
