A man will face court today after being charged by Organised Crime Squad detectives for allegedly possessing over $8 million worth of prohibited drugs found during a search in Homebush yesterday.
About 1pm (Sunday 11 August 2024), detectives from the State Crime Command's Organised Crime Squad – with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit and Public Order & Riot Squad – executed two search warrants at units on Nipper Street, Homebush.
During the search, detectives located and seized 10kgs of methylamphetamine, approximately 1kg of heroin, a Glock pistol, ammunition and further large unknown quantities of powder yet to be analysed.
Detectives estimate the street value of the drugs seized to be worth approximately $8 million.
Two men – aged 25 and 32 – were arrested at the properties and taken to Auburn Police Station.
The 25-year-old was charged with deal with property proceeds of crime less than $100,000, use/supply/acquire/possess defaced firearm, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, possess unregistered firearm pistol, possess unauthorised pistol, supply prohibited drug large commercial quantity, supply prohibited drug commercial quantity, two counts of supply prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug.
The 32-year-old was released without charge.
The 25-year-old was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court today (Monday 12 August 2024).
