Tasmanians are invited to honour the service and sacrifice of our veterans this Anzac Day, Friday 25 April, by attending a local commemorative service.
Honouring those who have served, fought and given their lives for the freedoms we value today, is a meaningful gesture of gratitude.
Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Jacquie Petrusma, encouraged all Tasmanians to join their local Anzac Day service.
"I warmly invite Tasmanians to participate in a local service and take a moment to reflect on the bravery, friendship and commitment that embodies the ANZAC spirit, which began 110 years ago on 25 April 1915 at Gallipoli," Minister Petrusma said.
"More than 15,000 Tasmanians served in World War I, with approximately 3,000 making the ultimate sacrifice.
"Anzac Day services will be held across Tasmania, and I extend my deepest gratitude to RSL Tasmania and their sub-branches for organising these very important events.
"There are more than 17,500 veterans in our State, and I encourage all Tasmanians to take the opportunity to reach out and say thank you for your service."
