While a multiyear modernization of the Milton S. Eisenhower Library building is underway, the former Hopkins Club building is serving as the main hub for library services. Located on Bowman Drive across from the Chemistry Building, the MSE Library Annex has a variety of study spaces and rooms for quiet study, and is where students can pick up books, access physical course reserves, print documents, and pray or meditate in an interfaith prayer room.

"It's been exciting to see students embrace the Annex as their own," says Elisabeth Long, the dean of Sheridan Libraries and University Museums. "We are gathering feedback through a variety of channels that is helping us adapt this building for their needs." Recent updates include power towers to increase the number of electrical outlets, a vending machine for freshly-brewed coffee and tea by the Hopkins student start-up Higher Grounds, and most recently some picnic tables and outdoor tables and chairs under the entryway awning. A bike rack and additional upgrades to the entrance pathway are also in the works.

"We have a great partnership with Facilities and Real Estate, Student Affairs, and student leaders from the SGA and GRO and we're planning to continue collaborating on creative ways to make the Annex an appealing and supportive learning environment for our students," Long says.
