Indonesia's Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) also Chair of Parliament 20 (P20) Puan Maharani expressed her appreciation to Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI) for its initiative in the establishment of the Supreme Audit Institutions 20 (SAI20) as a new engagement group of the G20 during the SAI20 Summit. Such initiative is expected to respond to the need for governance, transparency, and accountability in managing state resources, during and post-pandemic era.
Through joint work, collaboration, mutual cooperation between countries, it is hoped that they can accelerate measures in responding to global problems. "We can do this if the Government, Parliament, Supreme Audit Institution or SAI, use the opportunity in the G20, P20, and SAI20 forums, to build a strong commitment to save the world's fate through decisions and real collective work agendas," Puan told the SAI20 Summit which took place Tuesday (August 30) in Nusa Dua, Bali.
Puan added that each country's SAI can play their role as a G20 partner in ensuring increased accountability and effectiveness of each country's global policies. This role can be performed by SAI by participating in overseeing the sustainability of the mutually agreed global agenda.
BPK Chairman Isma Yatun emphasized that P20 and SAI20 share similar interests and can strengthen collaboration to accelerate post-pandemic economic recovery and achieve the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). "DPR Speaker emphasized collaborative action in facing the rapidly emerging challenges. SAI20 needs to work closely with P20 and other stakeholders to carry out an independent oversight function to ensure the success of G20 country policies and programs," explained Isma Yatun.
The SAI20 Summit is the culmination of a series of previous meeting agendas, starting from bilateral meetings, technical meetings, and Senior Officials Meeting.
