Housing Options Discussed at Bega Community Session

Property owners and the community are invited to an information session exploring studies aimed at expanding land availability south of Bega for future housing development in the area.

Funded by a grant from the NSW Government's Regional Housing Strategic Planning Fund, the studies aim to identify and rezone appropriate land to support housing growth in the Bega Valley.

Council's Chief Executive Officer, Anthony McMahon said the project reflects Council's commitment to addressing housing needs in the Bega Valley.

"Council is acutely aware of the need for more housing in the Bega Valley, and one way we can support this is by making sure we have enough land correctly zoned and not too far from existing services and infrastructure," Mr McMahon said.

"This is in addition to a number of other initiatives underway, such as reducing minimum lot sizes in certain locations and allowing multi-dwelling housing in some areas where it was previously not permitted."

The community information session will be held at 5.30pm on Wednesday 11 December at the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre in Bega.

Council has directly invited property owners in the study area and welcomes anyone with an interest in Bega's future growth to attend.

"At the session we will provide an overview of the project, outline how people can stay informed about its progress and most importantly answer any questions attendees may have," Mr McMahon said.

The session is a valuable opportunity for the community to engage with Council and contribute to shaping the future housing landscape south of Bega.
