How will lockdown affect your build?

Armidale Regional Council

If you're undertaking any construction or you're planning a build, there are some important restrictions you should be aware of now that the region is in lockdown.

Is construction allowed in the Armidale LGA?

Under the Public Health Order, construction is still allowed in affected regional areas, however it must only be carried out if the residence is unoccupied. This means if someone is living in the building that's having work done or there is someone working from home inside the house, construction cannot go ahead. However, if it is a new build, construction is allowed.

Changes to building inspections:

Due to this new rule, Council has had to alter the way it conducts building inspections. Similarly to the construction rules, building inspections can only be carried out by Council staff if it is an unoccupied or brand new dwelling.

Number of people permitted on site:

It is also important to remember that construction sites in our region are restricted to have the greater of either one person per 4m2 at the site or a maximum of 25 people at the site at any one time.

Development Applications:

If you are needing to submit a Development Application (DA) there are no changes to the way this is done. These will continue to be submitted, processed and accepted online through the NSW Government Planning Portal.
