Howlett isn't listening to small businesses

Minister for Small Business Jane Howlett simply isn't listening to Tasmanians doing it tough.

Shadow Minister for Small Business Janie Finlay said Minister Howlett's failure to support Small Business was jaw dropping.

"Minister Howlett continues to avoid providing appropriate support to struggling Tasmanian small businesses," Ms Finlay said.

"Border closures are having a profound impact on small businesses, yet sole traders impacted by the closures are ineligible for support through the Border Closure Critical Support Grants program.

"Labor continues to hear from the community that the grants program does not go far enough, yet Ms Howlett and Treasurer Peter Gutwein continue to ignore the concerns."

Ms Finlay said despite the government's rhetoric that they will update and expand support if needed, it was clear it already did not go far enough.

"How can Ms Howlett stand in Parliament and spruik her government's support package when hardworking Tasmanians are struggling to keep their businesses afloat?

"It is simply disgraceful that the government refuses to help people doing it tough, and I call on Ms Howlett to take some real action before it is too late."
