Cricketers in Melbourne's north can look forward to honing their skills and smashing sixes at the new Hume Indoor Cricket Centre.
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence joined Hume City Council Mayor, Councillor Jarrod Bell, Cricket Victoria and Greenvale Kangaroos Cricket Club to officially open the Centre at Greenvale Recreation Reserve.
With Australia's recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy test win against India and the return of the Women's Ashes to the hallowed turf of the MCG, cricket is front and center in the hearts and minds of Victorians right now.
Located at the Greenvale Recreation Reserve, the new centre includes six competition-size indoor cricket lanes surrounded by netting for safety, along with side screens and bowling machines. The indoor centre means year-round opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to develop their skills through community and competitive programs, tournaments and camps.
The venue will also cater for the growing cricketing community in the local area by supporting players to take their batting, fielding and bowling skills to the next level.
