The Allan Government is enabling hundreds of new homes to be built in the heart of Docklands - close to transport, jobs, and within walking distance to Marvel Stadium.
Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny has approved a planning permit amendment for more than 700 new homes, including 42 affordable homes to be built across three buildings at 208-226 Harbour Esplanade in Docklands.
Construction is expected to start on the $350 million development in December and will include a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes, as well as co-working spaces, ancillary facilities, two public parks and an extension to a road reserve.
Earlier this year plans were approved for more than 900 rental apartments at 24 Little Docklands Drive and a Planning Scheme Amendment for a range of residential, commercial and entertainment developments at 140 and 160 Harbour Esplanade in Docklands.
Victoria is the fastest growing state in the country and the Labor Government is pulling every lever to enable 800,000 new homes to be built over the next decade as part of its landmark Housing Statement.
The latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show Victoria continues to see the highest number of new homes approved for construction than any other state or territory.
