In the small town of Blackheath, a mystery lottery player has struck it rich, winning a division one prize in the recent Saturday Lotto draw. The individual, whose identity remains unknown, holds one of the seven winning entries from the draw on 6 January 2024, bagging an impressive $1,428,571.43.
The winning ticket was purchased at Blackheath Newsagency, located at 245 Great Western Highway, Blackheath.
However, the winning entry was not registered to a player card, which means officials from The Lott have no way of contacting the ticketholder and must wait for them to come forward.
Blackheath Newsagency owner Douglas Forsyth said it was a celebratory weekend for him and his brother after both of their newsagencies each sold a division one winning entry into the draw.
“My brother, David, owns Lismore Square News, also sold a division one winning entry in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw. We couldn’t believe it when we first found out about the news,” he said.
“What are the odds of both of our shops selling a division one win for the same draw!”
“We hope our mystery winner checks their ticket soon and comes forward to claim their prize.”
The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell says there's likely someone out there in the Blue Mountains region, unaware they're now over a million dollars richer.
She hopes to speak to the Blue Mountain’s latest division one winner soon.
“Someone is most likely walking around the region completely oblivious to the fact they’ve won a division one prize worth more than $1.4 million in Saturday Lotto,” she said.
“We’re urging anyone who purchased a Saturday Lotto ticket from Blackheath Newsagency to check their tickets as soon as possible because they could be the mystery winner we’re searching for!
“Can you imagine how life-changing it would be to discover you’ve taken home $1.4 million? Your plans for the rest of 2024 and beyond would change in a heartbeat.
“Make sure you check your tickets, and if you do discover that you are holding the winning ticket, contact The Lott on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”
The winning numbers for the draw were 17, 12, 36, 42, 13, and 34, with supplementary numbers 41 and 38. The draw saw seven division one winning entries across Australia, with four from New South Wales/ACT and one each from Queensland, Victoria, and South Australia.
