- Maintenance works occurring between Kooragang and Turrawan on the main north line and as far as Ulan on the Ulan line.
- Shutdown from 6:30 am Tuesday 21 November to 6:30 pm Friday 24, November.
- Essential track maintenance will maintain high safety and reliability standards.
The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) will carry out essential maintenance on the Hunter Valley Network next week to maintain safety and reliability.
During the works the line will be closed from 6:30 am Tuesday 21 November to 6:30 pm Friday 24, November.
The shutdown, which is part of ARTC's annual maintenance program, will see workers completing 129 jobs, including track resurfacing and grinding, bridge upgrades and vegetation control to keep the network running safely and efficiently.
Important track reconditioning works will occur at Quirindi and Muswellbrook. This will involve excavating the ground beneath the rails and replacing it with new earthworks and rock, called ballast, ensuring the track continues to support heavy loads.
Through-out the 4-day operation, ARTC's specialist engineers and track staff will be working continuously, including nights.
Signage and traffic control will be in place at any locations where motorists may experience short delays due to crossing works or adjacent corridor works.
This includes detours at level crossings which will be closed at Henry Street in Quirindi and Kelly Street in Scone.
Alternative bus services will be provided for impacted train passenger services, and details and schedules can be found at the Transport NSW website. Information on road closures and alternative routes can be found at livetraffic.com
