Attorney General and Minister for Justice Chansey Paech has today announced the appointment of Meredith Day Huntingford to the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory.
Justice Huntingford has been an Acting Associate Justice of the Supreme Court from December 2021 to March 2023, and an Acting Judge of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory since May 2023.
Having moved to Darwin from South Australia in 1987, Justice Huntingford has extensive experience as a lawyer in private practice and within the NT Government. She has been a partner at local firm Hunt & Hunt; a senior lawyer and Director of Litigation at the Solicitor for the Northern Territory; and the Deputy CEO of the Department of the Attorney General and Justice. A position as law lecturer at Charles Darwin University from 2001 to 2005 extended Justice Huntingford's legal skillset.
From October 2019 until her appointment as an Acting Associate Justice in the Supreme Court, Justice Huntingford served as a Local Court Judge, based in Darwin and Alice Springs.
