Huskisson Wins Premier Tourism Award

The seaside town of Huskisson has taken home the top gong in its category at the 2024 National Top Town Awards held in Canberra this morning.

Huskisson was crowned the best Tiny Town in Australia for populations under 1,500 after winning in the same division in the NSW competition earlier this year.

Huskisson triumphed over popular destinations including Winton in in Queensland and Burra in South Australia to win the coveted prize. Huskisson is a previous NSW gold winner and bronze medallist at the national awards.

"For Huskisson to win this award is a huge achievement for our city and highlights the warmth of the community when it welcomes visitors from across the country," said Tourism & Economic Development Manager, Kristy Mayhew.

"Our small business-owners work so hard to deliver exceptional services and I am so proud of their passion and dedication," she said.

President of Huskisson Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, Daniel Payne said it was a privilege to accept the award on behalf of the businesses and residents that make Huskisson so unique.

"This award belongs to our remarkable community, whose hard work, hospitality, and warmth make our town the must-visit destination that it is," Mr Payne said.

"A big thank you must go to our businesses, residents and visitors who make our town the best tiny town in Australia," he said.

Berry was also a finalist at the national awards in the Small Town category for populations under 5,000. It was recognised with 'Hall of Fame' status for having won the NSW prize for three consecutive years.

Berry missed out on a national title with Exmouth in Western Australia, Daylesford in Victoria and Richmond in Tasmania all making the podium in the same category.

Devonport in Tasmania won the Top Tourism Town Award for populations over 5,000. Kiama was a finalist in the same category.
