Hybrid Power Plant Key to 100% Sustainable Energy

Technical University of Denmark

Most people recognize that energy sources such as solar and wind will play vital roles in future energy production. But a supply based solely on renewable sources requires a different approach to fossil energy sources. With renewable energy sources, it must be possible to ensure a stable supply of electricity—regardless of whether the wind is blowing or the sun is shining.

DTU has therefore collaborated with the energy company TotalEnergies on building a new hybrid power plant at the University's research facilities at DTU Risø Campus near Roskilde on Zealand.

The new Risø Hybrid Power Plant will play a key role in DTU's research into a more sustainable energy supply, and be an important tool in developing and testing new technologies before they are scaled up.
