Hydraulink Backs High School League, Cultural Tour

Hydraulink Gold Coast and Hydraulink Brisbane North have joined forces to support a sport and community cultural initiative by Palm Beach Currumbin State High School, whose pupils spent a year self-funding a tour to Fiji that was the event of a lifetime for the 34 students involved and their hosts.

The eight-day day tour led by Petero's Sports Tours (former NRL champion player Petero Civoniceva) consisted of running Rugby League clinics in two primary and two secondary schools, training sessions with two local club teams, visiting local villages, planting trees in national parks, and really exploring the Fiji culture.

"We were also fortunate enough to play two games against the U18 FIJI BATI representative teams at the end of the tour," said PBC teacher and sport excellence coach Tim Maccan. "Channel 9 Gold Coast did a story on the tour just before we left, after winning the National Schoolboys Cup Rugby League Competition," said Tim, adding that the school plans to do it again after this tour, and a similar one in 2018, were so well received by everyone involved.

"The PBC SHS Fiji Tour was fantastic and such a great experience for our senior boys teams. We are a public school, and the kids paid for this trip all themselves over a 12-month period. Thank you again for your financial support for our tour gear supplied by Dynasty Sport, and supported by local businesses such as Hydraulink Gold Coast and Hydraulink Brisbane North."

Hydraulink Gold Coast Owner-Operators Tim and Katrina Phillips and Hydraulink Brisbane North Co-owners Andrew Schuler and Martin Smith felt the tour epitomised all that was good about sport and cultural exchanges, bringing young people together and fostering mutual understanding at an important stage of their life.

"This takes the community involvement and volunteer service fostered by sport another step further, by investing goodwill and practical support into our near neighbours overseas whose people have such a dynamic sporting character," said Tim, whose business supports the community involvement ethos of the national Hydraulink network.

Hydraulink Brisbane North Principal Martin Smith – who is one of the pioneers of the Hydraulink Brand in Brisbane – says the Group's community support ethos has won it many supporters through initiatives that support community service at a grass roots level. Martin has more than tripled the size of his existing distributorship in Brisbane North over the past nine years, recently joining with his business partner Andrew Schuler to expand into helping Bayside businesses seeking the same world standards of safety, compliance, cost-efficiency, and operational uptime.

Tim and Katrina's business model has also been outstandingly successful, winning Hydraulink's New Franchisee of the Year award last year, having built up a strong reputation for community involvement and customer care. The company then went on to win the Local Marketing Hero award this year.
