IAG welcomes $40 million Resilient Homes program for Central West NSW
IAG, whose brands include NRMA Insurance, CGU and WFI, welcomes the Federal and NSW Governments $40 million Resilient Homes Program for Central West homeowners impacted by the 2022 floods.
Eligible residents who apply under the program will be offered a home buyback or grant towards improving the resilience of their home including through relocation, raising, rebuilding or retrofitting.
The program will take individual circumstances into account, with priority given to residents facing additional challenges that could increase their vulnerability to future flood events.
IAG Managing Director and CEO Nick Hawkins said: "We welcome the creation of the Resilient Homes Program by the Federal and NSW Governments. It is an important step in the recovery of residents impacted by the devastating 2022 floods and will go towards helping these high-risk communities become safer and better protected from extreme weather.
"The program will help residents consider the best options to help protect their property into the future, including through retrofitting or rebuilding their home, or where the risk to safety at their property is too great, relocating their home or considering a home buyback.
Reducing the level of risk people face not only helps to ensure their safety from extreme weather events in the future, but it also has the added benefit of improving insurance affordability.Nick Hawkins
