IAG supporting customers impacted by NSW severe storms
IAG, whose brands include NRMA Insurance, CGU, WFI and ROLLiN', is on the ground supporting customers impacted by the severe storms sweeping across New South Wales.
The majority of claims are for property damage caused by strong winds that have uprooted trees and thrown branches onto homes, and damaged powerlines.
The strong winds have also driven rain into properties through damaged roofs and windows.
IAG's claims and assessing teams and partner builders are on the ground in the impacted areas assessing the damage, helping customers with their claims and conducting emergency make-safe repairs.
NRMA Insurance Executive General Manager Claims Luke Gallagher encouraged customers who have been impacted to lodge their claims online or over the phone to access immediate support.
"Our Major Event Response Team is in place 24/7 to ensure we can be on the ground immediately to help our customers affected by severe weather," Mr Gallagher said.
"Customers can contact us through the NRMA Insurance app, online, at one of our branches or over the phone to lodge their claim, and we can provide them with immediate support such as emergency financial assistance and temporary accommodation. We also have additional claims consultants standing by to help our customers.
"We've deployed one of our NRMA Insurance HELP Response Vehicles to West Pennant Hills in Sydney's north west, one of the regions that suffered significant storm damage overnight.
"Our HELP Response Vehicles are mobile claims centres, so customers can sit down with our claims team, lodge their claims and receive immediate help close to home."
Mr Gallagher encouraged everyone to make safety their number one priority with storms continuing to impact the Hunter, Mid North Coast and Northern New South Wales.
"Severe weather can strike anywhere, anytime, so it's critical that people continue to monitor the latest weather alerts, always follow the advice of the emergency authorities and never risk driving through floodwaters," he said.
"If the weather is clear, take the opportunity to secure any loose items around your property, check elderly or vulnerable neighbours are safe, delay or reconsider travel and if possible, move your vehicle undercover or away from trees or powerlines."
As of 2pm Thursday 16 January 2025, IAG had received 1,139 claims across its brands.
IAG claims, assessors and partner builders are also on the ground in Glen Innes, New South Wales, and in Stanthorpe, Queensland, following a significant hailstorm that impacted the region last weekend and into Monday.
The large hail caused significant damage to homes and vehicles.
IAG has received 267 claims from customers in Glen Innes, and 36 claims from customers across the border in Queensland, including around Applethorpe, Stanthorpe, and The Summit.
"We've deployed NRMA Insurance HELP Response Vehicles to Glen Innes and Stanthorpe. We encourage our customers to visit our teams to access immediate help with their claims," Mr Gallagher said.
