IAG Welcomes Stronger Homes Grants Program

IAG welcomes Stronger Homes Grants program

IAG today welcomed the joint Commonwealth-State Government announcement of grants of up to $10,000 to help people impacted by the 2025 North and Far North Queensland floods to make their homes more resilient into the future.

The Stronger Homes Grant program announced today by Premier David Crisafulli will help eligible homeowners across the impacted communities fund resilience measures for their homes over and above those offered by IAG during the repair process.

Key resilience measures that could be implemented under the grants program include:

• Raising laundry appliances and air conditioning compressors on plinths or wall brackets.

• Raising electrical services such as power points to help prevent water damage.

• Replacing wall lining with water resilient materials.

IAG Managing Director and CEO Nick Hawkins said helping households and communities to become more resilient following extreme weather is critical to supporting their recovery, and ensuring they are better protected into the future.

"We welcome today's announcement by the Federal and Queensland Governments as an important step in helping people across North and Far North Queensland to become safer, and better protected from flooding into the future.

"Our Assessors and Major Event Claims teams remain on the ground in the flood affected areas supporting our customers with their recovery from these devastating floods.

"The grants will provide homeowners with further financial support to make their homes safer and more resilient, which will benefit communities across the region," Mr Hawkins said.
