ICAO Will Assist Syria With Recovery Of Its Aviation Sector And Air Services

Syria's reintegration into international air travel has taken a significant step forward with a landmark agreement between the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Syria's General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA). The agreement aims to modernize Syria's aviation infrastructure and capabilities to safely and securely rejoin the global air transport network.
The Management Service Agreement, signed by GACA President Mr. Ashhad Al-Salibi and ICAO Regional Director Mr. Mohamed Abubaker Farea, launches a comprehensive effort to raise Syria's air transport operations to international standards.
Under this partnership, ICAO aims to support Syria in conducting a comprehensive gap analysis to identify key challenges and develop a strategic action plan. The collaboration will also focus on evaluating and enhancing institutional structures to establish a solid foundation for regulatory and operational efficiency.
Recognizing the scale of this effort, ICAO will actively engage with donor States and international organizations to mobilize the necessary financial and technical support. Securing these resources will be instrumental in ensuring the successful implementation of this initiative and driving long-term sustainability in Syria's aviation sector.
This collaboration reaffirms ICAO's commitment to fostering safe, secure, sustainable and efficient aviation systems worldwide. By addressing institutional, operational, and infrastructure challenges, this initiative will play a pivotal role in Syria's civil aviation recovery and long-term sustainable development.
