On 27 February 2025, the First Vice-President of the International Criminal Court ("ICC"), Judge Rosario Salvatore Aitala, met with Spain's Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, H.E. Mr José Manuel Albares Bueno in Madrid.
Vice-President Aitala expressed the ICC's appreciation for Spain's continued support and their commitment to the international rule of law. During the visit, the First Vice-President discussed the Court's current challenges and its role as a pillar of international rule of law endeavouring to ensure accountability for the world's most serious crimes. Spain reaffirmed its continued and unwavering support for the independence, impartiality, and integrity of the ICC.
