A Greenacres woman is nearly $5 million richer after her playful bedtime plea to the "lotto angels" manifested into a Set for Life win, confirming that dreams really do come true.
The South Australian resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Set for Life draw 3355 on Saturday 12 October 2024.
She won $4.8 million paid in monthly instalments of $20,000 over 20 years.
“Thank you so much! I’m half asleep and it feels like I’m still dreaming,” she laughed when an official from The Lott called to confirm the life-changing news.
“I’ve been thinking, ‘Is it real, is it not?’. I’m glad it’s finally confirmed.
“It’s going to help me so much.
“I’ll be able to use it towards retirement and I’ll spoil myself a little bit too.
“I’m definitely booking a river cruise in Amsterdam!
“There are these three charities I like to donate to, and now I can give even more.
“This is incredible. Thank you so much.”
The thrilled winner shared an unexpected twist from the night before her win, revealing she had jokingly “prayed to the lotto angels”.
“I was watching the Saturday X Lotto draw on TV that night and said, ‘Come on, lotto angels, I would love a win.’ None of my numbers came up and I didn’t even think to check my Set for Life ticket,” she shared.
“The next morning, I saw an email from The Lott, and it looked a bit different than usual. It asked me to check my Set for Life ticket.
“At first, I thought it might be a scam, so I didn’t get too excited. But now that it’s confirmed I can’t believe it!”
The winning 5-game QuickPick entry was purchased from Greenacres & Klemzig Newsagency, Shop 1, Greenacres Shopping Centre.
Greenacres & Klemzig Newsagency owner Mr Robert Li said he and the team were ecstatic to hear his outlet had sold a winning division one winning ticket.
“We’re so excited and truly happy for our lucky customer!” he said.
“I’ll be displaying signs in the shop and sharing the great news with all of our customers.
“The last time we sold a division one winning ticket was in 2020. We hope to sell another one soon.
“We hope this monthly prize of $20,000 for the next 20 years is life-changing for our winner and we wish them all the best with it!”
The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 3355 on Saturday 12 October 2024 were 17, 13, 43, 25, 34, 38 and 33, while the supplementary numbers were 41 and 26.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 3355 – one in South Australia.
