A man has been charged by officers from the Gold Coast Rapid Action and Patrols after the alleged discovery of illegal drugs, utensils and a loaded firearm at a residence at Ormeau this morning.
Around 10.15am a search warrant was executed on a Katunga Circuit house where it is alleged a quantity of cannabis and an ice pipe were found along with a loaded rifle which was allegedly located under a bed.
A 24-year-old Burleigh Heads man has been charged with possess a dangerous drug, possess property suspected of being used in connection with the commission of a drug offence, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a shortened firearm and authority required to possess explosives (ammunition).
He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow Wednesday May 10, 2017.
A second Ormeau man was also charged following further investigations with possess a dangerous drug, possess property suspected of being used in connection with the commission of a drug offence and authority required to possess explosives (ammunition).
He is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on June 21, 2017.
Senior Sergeant Mat Kelly, Officer in Charge of the Gold Coast Rapid Action and Patrols said: "This arrest is another great example of a tip off from a member of the community resulting in the location of dangerous drugs and the removal of a firearm from our streets, making our community a safer place."
