Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has today closed both the Goombungee and Cecil Plains Waste Management Facilities due to clean-up that needs to occur as a result of illegal dumping.
Water and Waste Portfolio Cr Nancy Sommerfield said it was disappointing this had occurred.
"It's disappointing when members of the public dump the wrong sorts of materials at our waste management facilities and as a result of this occurring recently, we will have both the Goombungee and Cecil Plains facilities closed for a few days," Cr Sommerfield said.
Both facilities are expected to reopen by Wednesday 21 June however that is subject to contractor ability to complete the specialised clean-up works. Residents are asked to keep an eye on the TRC web site for updates.
