ILO Backs Skills Development at Africa Skills Week 2024

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is a proud partner of Africa Skills Week 2024, which will take place from October 14 to 18 in Accra, Ghana. This event, led by the African Union, focuses on quality skills development and sustainable employment across Africa. The ILO will be key in advancing discussions around youth employment, private sector engagement, green skills, and empowering vulnerable communities through skills development.

Continental TVET Strategy 2025-34

4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

This session will provide key insights into the development of the Continental TVET Strategy 2025-34 as well as an orientation on World Skills Africa.

Wednesday 16 October

TVET for the empowerment of refugees and host communities

9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

This session will explore the potential of TVET and Higher Education for the social and economic empowerment of refugees and host communities.

Skills Governance

9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

This session will delve into the benefits of sector skills bodies.

Promoting Quality apprenticeships

11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This session will focus on how apprenticeships can act as pathways to relevant skills development.

Greening TVET

2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.

This session will focus on how technical and vocational education can contribute to environmental sustainability and the transition to a green economy.

Thursday 17 October

Empowering Refugees

This session will explore the role of TVET in providing economic empowerment for refugees and host communities.
