On October 22, the ILO Office for Spain will organize the first Tripartite Meeting on the ILO Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy, at the headquarters of the Spanish Economic and Social Council (CES). The meeting will feature Githa Roelans, Head of the Multinational Enterprises and Responsible Business Conduct Unit at ILO-Geneva, along with representatives from several Spanish multinational companies that apply the principles and guidelines of the MNE Declaration in their supply chain strategies and actions. Representatives of the Spanish ILO constituents (Government, employers' and workers' organizations) will also participate to share their perspectives.
The MNE Declaration is the only global instrument in this field that has been developed and adopted by governments, employers, and workers' organizations worldwide to ensure the protection and respect of fundamental labor rights by enterprises, regardless of whether they are guaranteed by the laws of the country in which they operate. Many Spanish companies are already applying its principles in their activities.
The meeting will be held in person, with prior registration required.
