The transfer station on Delegate Road will transition later this year to a new operating schedule, with the local waste hub expanding its opening days and hours to give regional and rural residents in the wider Delegate area more opportunity outside the work week to get rid of their waste and recycling.
From mid-November 2024, Delegate Transfer Station will be open an additional day per week on Sundays between 11am and 3pm, plus extended trading hours every Saturday between 10am and 3pm. These changes will result in local residents having an extra five-and-a-half hours every weekend to fit in their trip to the transfer station.
Council is also introducing a new and secure bank of bins facility, located at the same site as the current unsecured bin enclosure outside the Delegate Transfer Station.
This new service offers residents the opportunity to dispose of their waste and recycling at a safe, modern, and clean facility at a time that suits them. Part of the improved service and experience for residents at the new Delegate Bank of Bins relies on access control to ensure that it's only locals making use of the bins.
Residents who wish to make use of the new facility will need to register for a key and pay an access fee through their rates notice. This additional charge will cover the costs of emptying, transporting, and processing locally collected waste and recycling.
Registrations for the new Delegate Bank of Bins are open now. Application forms are available online at https://qrco.de/BoBform or over-the-counter at Council offices.
To help the community transition to these new arrangements, information sessions will be held in Delegate throughout October. These dates will be advertised soon.
These changes represent a significant improvement to the Delegate region's waste management services, with the new approach providing a more sustainable, efficient, and convenient system for the entire community.
