Improving Disability Access To Hampton Shops

Drivers with restricted mobility will be able to safely visit Hampton Street and park using either the new off-street disabled parking space in the Thomas Street car park, or the new on-street angled space on Service Street.

The design of the spaces meets the Australian Standard parking requirement, which improves ease of access to parked vehicles. The new parking space design includes a shared area that features a yellow hatched line marking and a bollard.

Improving the location and design of disability parking spaces is a key action from Bayside's Disability Action Plan and Parking Strategy 2023-2033.

As part of this action plan and strategy, we will review, audit and upgrade the design of on-street and publicly provided parking spaces for persons with a disability to ensure that these spaces are appropriately located to meet user needs and designed to provide safe and appropriate access.
