Improving Health Of Upper Murrumbidgee

We have committed up to $55.6 million to a range of extra measures to improve the health of the Upper Murrumbidgee.

This includes:

  • $20.3 million for river health and monitoring programs. This will be delivered through a Federation Funding Agreement with ACT and NSW.
  • $5.3 million to support a review of the Snowy Water Inquiry Outcomes Implementation Deed.
  • $30 million to support additional water releases in drought-like conditions.

Consultation on the Improving the health of the Upper Murrumbidgee: Draft Strategy is now open.

This strategy proposes 4 principles to guide how we implement our commitments to improve the health of the upper Murrumbidgee.

These are:

  • Coordinated delivery
  • Build on existing initiatives in a strategic way
  • Being transparent and accountable
  • Working with First Nations and communities

Consultation is open from 20 June 2024 to 25 July 2024. This is to allow stakeholders to have their say of the draft implementation principles.
