The Tasmanian Liberal Government is improving sporting facilities across the State to get more Tasmanians active and boost participation in sport.
I'm pleased to announce that 40 organisations from across Tasmania will receive more than $1.5 million in funding from the 2021-22 Improving the Playing Field Grants Program (Small Grants).
The Program recognises the importance of sport and recreation to Tasmanian communities and is also providing assistance in supporting the building and construction industry and local jobs.
Improving the Playing Field is being provided through two streams:
- Small grants: for projects between $25,000 and $50,000; and
- Large grants: for projects between $50,001 and $500,000.
Projects to receive funding under the 2021-22 Grants Program (Small Grants) include:
- $41,109 towards the clubhouse redevelopment at Bridport Surf Life Saving Club;
- $32,316 for new amenities at Furneaux Islands Motorcross Association;
- $25,000 towards drought proofing at the Freycinet Sports and Community Club;
- $36,784 for lighting upgrades at the Burnie Rugby Union Club;
- $40,000 for lighting upgrades at the Domain Tennis Centre; and
- $49,000 for improved disability access and extra seating for the Glenorchy Basketball Association.
Funding under the Grants Program will contribute towards more than $2.3 million in total project costs around the State.
We want more Tasmanians to get involved in physical activity, no matter what their age, their circumstance or their background.
