A man will face court today following an incident in Ceduna yesterday.
About 5pm Thursday 31 August police were called to Kuhlmann Street, Ceduna after reports of an assault at a home.
When police arrived they located the victim, a 34-year-old woman who is known to the suspect, with a number of injuries. She was conveyed to hospital in a stable condition.
As the two attending police officers attempted to arrest the suspect, a 28-year-old Ceduna man, he became violent toward police, stabbing a female officer in the chest. Thankfully she was saved by her multi-purpose load-bearing vest.
The man was tasered and placed under arrest. He was charged with two counts of attempt murder, two counts of assault emergency services worker and attempt escape from custody.
He was refused bail and will appear in the Ceduna Magistrates Court today.
Both police officers were shaken by the incident, but luckily sustained only minor physical injuries.
