Designated hours staff that had incorrectly received flex-time instead of overtime payments are now set to receive individual back payments up to and exceeding $60,000.

These payments, though potentially life-changing, are not a windfall for their recipients. The payments reflect wages that were earned by workers, but systematically withheld until identified and campaigned for by union members.

Questacon management were dismissive of underpayment concerns raised by workers and reluctant to take action. Overcoming this attitude required the persistent effort of organised workers and ongoing support from the CPSU.

The process of identifying Questacon workers that are eligible for backpay continues, with hundreds already identified as impacted by payment issues. CPSU members will determine the next steps for this campaign.
