To drive economic growth and reduce bureaucratic obstacles for our businesses, the Tasmanian Liberal Government is assembling an all-star team.
Bringing together the best minds from across Tasmania's diverse business and industry sector – a Red Tape Reduction Industry Taskforce is being formed.
Treasurer, Guy Barnett, said business and industry live and breathe the challenges of red tape every day.
"They know what needs to change, they know where to start and where we need to focus," the Treasurer said.
"This taskforce will act as a central touchpoint with Government for industry to feed through red tape reduction initiatives and proposals.
"We've said that we are going to take a slasher to red tape, and by bringing together Tasmania's peak industry bodies and representatives, we can ensure we deliver real outcomes.
"Yesterday, we announced an independent audit into existing state and local based approvals and permits – to see what's working and what's not – and this taskforce will also be critical in that process.
"This is all about reducing the barriers holding our industries back, accelerating project approvals, eliminating outdated regulation and reducing compliance costs to give our businesses the launchpad they need.
"We have seen positive signs from the work already underway; our business confidence is the best in the nation and our business conditions are second – but we cannot sit on our hands.
"We are going to work shoulder-to-shoulder with industry to eliminate red tape left, right and centre.
"Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is all about backing business, and creating jobs and our red tape reform agenda will ensure we can continue the momentum and keep growing our economy."
