Injured Woman Located In Belmont

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after a woman who was located with injuries in Belmont this morning.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Barrabool Road and Riverview Terrace about 1am after an injured woman was located by a passerby.

She was transported to hospital with serious injuries and underwent surgery.

Investigators have been told the woman had been seen hitch-hiking along Barrabool Road shortly before being located.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives attended the scene to assist investigators with determining how the woman sustained her injuries.

At this stage it is unclear as to what has occurred or what led to the woman being found at the location.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Detectives would like to speak with anyone who saw the woman prior to emergency services involvement or with dashcam footage.
