Inmate at Collins Bay Institution Dies 2 December

On November 30, 2023, Drago Knezevic, an inmate from Collins Bay Institution, died while in our custody of apparent natural causes.

At the time of death, the inmate had been serving a sentence of 9 years, 11 months, and 13 days, which commenced on November 4, 2019, for possession of schedule I/II substances for the purpose of trafficking and import/export of schedule I/II substances.

The inmate's next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
