Innovation Fund Denmark Awards DKK 11M for New Diagnostic Test

Technical University of Denmark

With the grant, Professor Winnie Svendsen, DTU Bioengineering, will develop a diagnostic test that can give doctors a quick answer to whether patients in shock can tolerate adrenaline in acute treatment. The test will be used in a pilot study with 200 patients with septic shock who will receive either beta-blockers or a placebo.

The COMBAT-TOX (Combat TOXic Catecholamine Syndrome Induced Mortality) study is carried out in collaboration with the intensive care units at Herlev, Bispebjerg and Nordsjælland hospitals.
