Inter-State Tournament brings magic of Quidditch to Sandringham
This October inter-state Quidditch will come to Victoria for the first time with the Trevor Barker Oval in Sandringham hosting Quidditch Australia's annual Quidditch State Shield tournament.
Based on the magical sport from Harry Potter, Quidditch is a full contact sport for two teams of 21 athletes, with players of all genders competing together. The teams face off in fast-paced matches, dodging bludgers and tackles as they fly to victory by scoring 10 point shots with the quaffle, until one team catches the elusive snitch, ending the match and scoring 30 additional points for their team.
In what's sure to be an exciting weekend of top level Quidditch that is certain to entertain and delight people of all ages, two time champions the Victorian Leadbeaters will finally get a chance to compete for the State Shield on home soil.
With a grand total of five State representative teams from across Australia descending on Sandringham for two full days of intense matches, this year's Quidditch State Shield is set to be the biggest, and most exhilarating competition to date, and is not to be missed.
