Tasmania has an exciting summer of cricket ahead with the return of international matches.
Today's launch of the 2025-26 international cricket schedule headlines a bumper upcoming summer of cricket, with the inclusion of international matches in Tasmania.
Minister for Sports and Events, Nick Duigan, said two matches will be played in Tasmania.
"Cricket fans will be excited to learn the Australian Men's team will play a white ball series T20 match here against India in November," Minister Duigan said.
"Equally exciting is that the Australian Women's team will round out the schedule. There will be a ODI game held at Ninja stadium with Australia's Women's team taking on India on February 27.
"For the first time in 17 years, international cricket will be played in every capital city across the nation. It's exciting to have Tasmania be a part of that.
"This is an exciting period for cricket in the state, off the back of a maiden Hurricanes BBL championship earlier this year.
"This summer's international cricket fixture will be one not to miss, with some of the world's best teams on tour, and excitingly, Tasmania will be part of the action.
"Hosting international matches provides the community with access to live sporting content and it also showcases the state as a premier events and tourism destination.
"But beyond that it offers young Tasmanian cricketers, and those considering taking up the sport, a beacon of light to aim for."
Minister Duigan said the strength of cricket in Tasmania was highlighted by a 10 per cent participation growth between 2022-23 to 2023-24.
"Excitingly, this growth has been driven by programs like Cricket Blast, social competitions, and indoor cricket," Minister Duigan said.
"Female participation has also increased by 4 per cent during this period.
"The Tasmanian Government has committed $3.56 million in 2024-25 to support Cricket Tasmania as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future. This funding will enhance grassroots programs and strengthen pathways for players, umpires and coaches, all while supporting elite programs.
"We are building a bright future for cricket in Tasmania, providing opportunities for young talent to shine, while ensuring the sport grows for generations to come."
