Inspiring the city's young women
Shellharbour City Council will host a special breakfast event for International Women's Day this Wednesday 8 March 2023 celebrating this year's theme - Embracing Equity.
The event, hosted by Bella from i98FM, will see young women and local school students come together to listen to a panel of inspirational speakers.
This year's line-up of panellists includes Executive Director of the Illawarra Women's Health Centre, Sally Stevenson, local published author Helena Fox, successful macramé business owner of Mary Maker, Brydie Stewart, and local musician Kay Proudlove.
The panel will also host special guest speaker Kath Koschel, former elite cricketer and founder of the Kindness Factory. The Kindness Factory is a not-for-profit that creates educational programs in schools and universities, to help foster a kinder community.
Shellharbour City Council CEO Mike Archer said the event was a wonderful way to celebrate and recognise International Women's Day.
"Council is proud to once again be hosting this event. It's a valuable opportunity for young local women to come together, celebrate and hear from a panel of inspirational speakers," Mr Archer said.
International Women's Day has been observed since the early 1900s, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialised world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.
Many organisations declare an annual theme that supports their specific agenda or cause, and some of these are adopted more widely with relevance than others.
