The Allan Labor Government is supporting Victoria's Cyber Defence Centre interns to work alongside security specialists - so that they can be ready to prevent and respond to cyber security incidents.
The Cyber Defence Centre is backed by a $10 million investment in the Victorian Budget 2024/25 to strengthen the Labor Government's ability to respond to cyber threats and continue to support a pipeline of interns in the growing sector.
The Cyber Defence Centre internship program aims to help enhance the interns technical analysis and digital forensics skills in the booming cyber jobs market.
The interns studied a Certificate IV in Cyber Security which is offered through TAFEs across the state as part of the Labor Government's Free TAFE program.
The Government also runs a number of digital and cyber skills programs including Code Like a Girl's School of Code, the Australian Women in Security Network's Women in Security Program and the Digital Jobs program.
The global and local cyber security sector is growing and by 2026, the global cyber market is forecast to grow to $270 billion, with Victoria's cyber industry predicted to reach $4.7 billion.
