Interstate Fugitive Arrested Following Moree Chase

A man – wanted on an unrelated warrant in South Australia – has been charged following a pursuit in western NSW.

Officers attached to New England Police District were patrolling Moree township about 1.30am today (Monday 13 May 2024), when they located a utility which had been reported stolen from Emmaville on Friday (10 May 2024).

Officers activated their lights and sirens and attempted to stop the ute.

When it allegedly failed to stop a pursuit was initiated along the Newell Highway, before the vehicle became bogged on the Clump Road, Bellata.

The driver - a 45-year-old man - was arrested and taken to Moree Hospital. He was not injured in the incident.

Upon release he was taken to Moree Police Station and charged with steal motor vehicle, break & enter house etc steal value

He was refused bail to appear at Moree Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 14 May 2024).
