Investigation Commenced Into Vessel Fire - Rodd Point

Police have commenced an investigation into a vessel fire near an island in Sydney harbour today.

About 12.15pm today (Saturday 11 January 2025), emergency services were called to Rodd Island, Rodd Point, following reports of a vessel fire.

Officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command and Marine Area Command arrived to find a moored yacht and a tender boat alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW officers attended and extinguished the blaze; however, the vessel sunk.

Police Divers are expected to arrive at the scene this afternoon and attempts will be made to inspect the damaged vessel and its contents.

Police have established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the incident.
