Homicide Squad detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two people in Rye this morning.
Emergency services were called to a property on Parson Street shortly after 4am following reports of an altercation.
While the exact circumstances of the incident are yet to be determined, it's believed a man and a woman had attended the address and became involved in an altercation with the residents of the property.
A male resident of the property and the female who attended the property were subsequently both found with gunshot wounds.
Medical treatment was provided however both passed away at the scene.
The second male left the address before police arrived and a search is currently underway to locate that man.
At this early stage in the investigation, it's believed the parties involved were known to each other.
The deceased male is believed to be a 29-year-old Rye man while the deceased woman is yet to be formally identified.
Homicide Squad detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have information about the current whereabouts of the man or the identity of the woman involved.
Police are also appealing for anyone in the area who may have CCTV or dash-cam footage to come forward.
