Cobram Crime Investigation Unit detectives are continuing to investigate the death of a 49-year-old woman in Cobram earlier this week.
A postmortem was conducted and at this stage, the cause of death has been unable to be determined.
Detectives will await the results of further testing and continue with their investigation.
Currently, a 39-year-old man has been charged with intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury, common law assault, aggravated assault of a female and unlawful assault.
He faced court this morning and was further remanded to appear again at Shepparton Magistrates' Court on 21 May, 2024.
