Tasmania Police has liaised with the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment in relation to the reported dolphin carcass at Peron Sand Dunes near St Helens, Tasmania Police say.
Advice provided by the Department indicates determining exact cause of death is unlikely due to state of decomposition of the carcass. Injuries reported on the carcass are consistent with post-mortem injuries sometimes seen on deceased marine animals and can be caused by other species feeding on the carcass.
At this stage there is no information to indicate further investigation is necessary.
However anyone with any information should all Police on 131444.
