Investing In Better Future For Northern Territory

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The Albanese Government is making critical investments in Northern Territory infrastructure, creating jobs and improving access to communities.

At the 2024-25 Budget, we committed $20 million towards the Roystonea Avenue Duplication - Terry Drive to Lambrick Avenue project in Palmerston and $9.6 million towards the Stuart Highway - Schwarz Crescent Intersection Upgrade in Alice Springs.

The Roystonea Avenue project will extend the road's duplication beyond Terry Drive, easing queuing and congestion for traffic entering from Inverway Circuit. The construction tender is expected to be released to market in September 2024.

The Schwarz Crescent project will improve access to and from the Stuart Highway, improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists, and also address queuing and congestion. This projects construction tender is expected to be released to market in October 2024.

In total, the Australian Government has committed $579.3 million to help deliver 15 projects on the Stuart, Victoria and Barkly Highways Corridor.

The NT Government's contribution to the Roystonea Avenue project is $5 million, with a further $2.4 million towards the Schwarz Crescent project.

The Australian Government is working closely with the NT Government on priority projects for the benefit of the NT community.

We are delivering a better future for all Australians - one made in Australia that builds economic opportunity and thriving communities.
